Descripción
The town center, with its huddle of houses, old San Vicente de Paúl School and wonderful Santa Isabel Chapel, always covered in vines, is a beautiful area that you will love exploring. The town is also famous for the altarpiece featuring the Cristo de la Agonía (Christ of the Agony) located in San Pedro Church. The image became popular as a result of its manifestations of life in the form of tears, sweat and blood. Limpias is the perfect setting-off point for visits to villages such as Laredo, home to La Salvé, one of the longest and most beautiful beaches in the region, an immense sandy stretch five kilometers long; and Santoña, which boasts the title of birthplace of anchovies in olive oil, and also offers nearby Berria Beach, which is two kilometers long and handicapped accessible. The area is ideal for rowing and pirogue canoeing, and marveling at beautiful, one-of-a-kind Cantabria, with places like Las Marismas Nature Reserve, where the Asón River finally joins the sea, and Los Collados del Asón Nature Reserve, a mountainous massif formed during the glacial period. Other attractions include Covalanas and Cullalvera caves.
